10/23/11 - Heartland Falls in Penalty Shoot-out
The Heartland Hawks faced off against Kaskaskia College in the first round Region 24 tournament on Sunday, October 23. The teams found themselves tied 0-0 at the end of regulation and headed in to overtime, twice.
Heartland had several chances but could not capitalize, they had three shots on goal that hit the crossbar; Kaskaskia came away with the 3-1 victory in overtime.
Freshman, Alecia Mantei (Rochester) scored the solo goal for the Hawks
on a penalty kick.
10/18/11 - Heartland Shuts Out College of DuPage
The Hawks came out of the gate strong ending the first half with a score 4-0. Alexis Fahlbeck (Boylan Catholic) collected a hat trick, while Ariel LaRocco (Schaumburg) and Rachel Murrill (Sacred-Heart Griffin) each had a goal of their own, finalizing the score at 5-0.
10/14/11 - Hawks Win 1-0 in Final Home Game
In Heartland’s final home game of the season, the Hawks slipped past Waubonsee Community College 1-0 on a Sami Dees (Williamsville) 35-yard free kick in the first half.
The Chiefs had multiple shots on goal early, but the Hawks’ defense and goalkeeper Danielle Koncius (Amos Alonzo Stagg) denied each WCC attempt. Koncius ended the game with nine saves.
The Hawks improved to 7-5-1 with the win, and they compete in their final regular season game on Oct. 18 against College of Dupage.
10/12/11 - Hawks Draw Even With Kaskaskia
Through regulation and two sudden-death overtimes, Heartland and Kaskaskia Community College could not separate from each other in a 0-0 tie at the Corn Crib.
The Hawks had only 14 eligible players to KCC’s 19, but Danielle Koncius (Amos Alonzo Stagg) made eight saves in goal to keep the match scoreless.
10/9/11 - Hawks put out Fuego-Meridian
The Heartland women’s soccer team scored four second-half goals on Sunday, including three from Alex Fahlbeck (Boylan Catholic), and the Hawks soared past the Mississippi club team Fuego
Ministries 4-1 at the Meridian CC Tournament.
Mackenzie Olson (U-High) added a goal and Sarah Snow (Glenbrook South) contributed two assists to lead the Hawks to their second-straight win at the Mississippi tournament.
With the win, Heartland improved to 6-5 on the season and will take the field next on Wednesday against Kaskaskia College in a home
region game at 5:00 p.m.
10/8/11 - Fahlbeck leads Hawks past Meridian
Two Alex Fahlbeck (Boylan Catholic) goals were all the Heartland women’s soccer team needed on Saturday as they downed Meridian Community College 2-0 at the Meridian CC Tournament in Mississippi.
Fahlbeck found the back of the net in the 35th and 74th minutes and Danielle Koncius (Amos Alonzo Stagg) made five saves in goal to help the Hawks shut out the Eagles.
Ariel LaRocco (Schaumburg) assisted Fahlbeck’s second goal as Heartland improved to 5-5 on the season.
10/4/11 - Heartland moves to 4-5 with a win over Lincoln
The Hawks struggled in the first half missing open goals but came off the first half 2-0 with both goals from Sarah Snow. In the second half the ladies came on full force scoring six goals. Rachel Murrill collected a hat trick while Alecia Mantei, Iris Casler and Kalee Hutchison each contributed one goal.
10/2/11 - Hawks end losing streak with an Overtime win
The Hawks pulled off a double overtime win against St. Charles CC on Sunday. Alex Fahlbeck had both goals for Heartland, winning the game for the Hawks in double overtime off a Kore Pizano assist.
9/30/11 - Heartland drops region match up to Lewis & Clark CC
Hawks lose a close one, 2-1 on Friday against Lewis & Clark. The defense let up some marks on the defense that contributed to two of Lewis & Clark's goals.
Alecia Mantei scored the solo goal for Heartland off an Ariel LaRocco assist. Danielle Koncius had seven saves in goal.
9/24/11 - Hawks fall to St. Louis C.C. 2-0
The Heartland women’s soccer team dropped its third-straight game on Saturday, falling 2-0 to St. Louis Community College at home.
The Hawks played even with the Archers through the first half, but a couple mishaps on the defensive side led to goals.
Danielle Koncius played all 90 minutes in goal for the Hawks recording three saves.
Heartland’s record dropped to 2-4 overall, and they take the field next on Friday against Lewis & Clark Community College at the Corn Crib at 6 p.m.
9/20/11 - Heartland falls to Region Foe Parkland
Heartland stood strong on defense most of the game but the Cobras squeaked my two goals resulting in a region game loss for the Hawks. Danielle Koncius had seven saves in the goal.
9/9/11 - Hawks pull away for Region 24 win
In Wednesday’s match up with Lincoln College, the Hawks pulled away in the second half to route the Lynx 5-0 and walk away with their first
Region 24 win of the season.
Although it was a tightly contested first half, the Hawks found the back of the net four times in the second half to emerge victorious. Alexis Fahlbeck (Boylan Catholic), Mackenzie Olson (U-High), Sami Dees (Williamsville), Iris Casler (V.J. Andrews) and Ariel LaRocco (Schaumburg) each contributed goals for Heartland.
On Wednesday, Heartland takes on Region 24 foe Illinois Central College for the Hawks’ first home game of the season.
9/3/11 - Hawks drop first game of season to drop to 1-1
A rough start doomed the Heartland women’s soccer team on Saturday, as the Hawks could not bounce back from two early mistakes against Southwestern Illinois College, ultimately falling 3-1.
A penalty kick in the sixth minute and a through ball in the 10th minute gave SWIC a quick 2-0 lead. Heartland’s Ariel LaRocco (Schaumburg) answered with a goal, but another SWIC goal and sweltering heat were too much for the Hawks to overcome.
Heartland will take the field next on Wednesday at Lincoln College at 4 p.m. for another chance at a Region 24 win.
8/30/11 - Hawks off to Fast Start with 3-1 Win
The Hawks put their first foot forward in Tuesday’s season opener with a 3-1 win over Illinois Central College.
On the road, the Hawks scored two goals in the first half to jump ahead of the Cougars, and they held on thanks to aggressive play and good ball movement.
Freshman, Alex Fahlbeck (Boylan Catholic) led the way for the Hawks with two goals and Ariel LaRocco
(Schaumburg) chipped in a goal of her own. Danielle Koncius (Amos
Alonzo Stagg) recorded six saves while playing the entire game in goal for the Hawks.
Rachel Murrill (Sarah Snow (Glenbrook South) and Christyne Grabanski (Schaumburg) each contributed an assist to help Heartland start the season on the right foot.
The Hawks take the field next on Saturday when they travel to Southwestern Illinois College to face their fierce Region 24 rivals in a 1:00 p.m. contest.
8/27/11 - In the Hawks third scrimmage game vs. Eureka College the
Hawks were as good as it gets for the Heartland Hawks. Heartland used a strong offensive attack to pummel the Red Devils 11-0.
Rachel Murrill (Mahomet-Seymour) and Allison Rodriguez (Forestview,
NC) each scored three goals for the Hawks, and Alexis Fahlbeck (Boylan
Catholic) and Mackenzie Olson (U-High) added two each. Koré Pizano
(United Township) also scored, and Ariel LaRocco (Schaumburg) contributed three assists.
The Hawks scored eight goals in the first half and controlled possession and created scoring opportunities for the majority of the game on their way to a convincing win. The Hawks lace up again on Tuesday when they travel to East Peoria to battle the Illinois Central College Cougars in a 6 p.m. contest.
8/20/11 - Women's Soccer started off the scrimmage season with a game against Lindenwood University - St. Charles. The Hawks lost 4-1, with Christyne Grabanski scoring the goal for Heartland.
